August 2026: consolidation, no repositioning

Four acquisitions and five entrants. The index reaches 55 vendors, and not one of the moves puts a vendor in the tool-call execution path.

What changed

The quarter's consolidation confirms the map: Cisco closed its ~$400M acquisition of Astrix, Cyera acquired Oasis Security (~$1B), Anaconda acquired Enkrypt AI, and Snowflake moved for MCP-gateway maker Natoma. Five entrants join the index, Natoma, Tenet Security, Rubrik Agent Identity, Menlo Security, and Mimecast, bringing it to 55 vendors. Every one of these moves deepens an existing pattern: identity planes, gateways, and monitors changing owners. None of them moved a vendor into the tool-call execution path.
